Steel Plant Inline Systems

The Inline system is based upon RTI's now 3rd generation 8000SX technology and brings you a new level of ultrasonic detectability. The system is a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) based Ultrasonic Rail Flaw Analysis system. It integrates into the rail production line and performs ultrasonic rail flaw analysis of rails for internal defects post manufacturing.

The system enables feedback to the steelmaker on the quality of their product. The system can be manually configured to test six rail weights: AS 41Kg, AS 50Kg, NZ 50Kg, AS 53Kg, AS 60Kg and AS 68Kg.

The manual process for changing rail weight setup is quick and easy with only five colour coded parts to be changed. For each rail weight there is 5 items to install: 2 Mounting Bars and 3 Rail Weight Keys.

The overall system consists of four major components:

Test Frame Assembly - mechanical unit that performs the ultrasonic testing
Electronics Cabinet - houses the electronics and sub rack systems
Workstations: main & remote - operator input and access
